of the world series. giants versus tigers. starts at 5:07 p.m. they have been sprucing up willie mays plaza and inside the dugout store fans are going wild for anything orange and black. local businesses are gearing up to serve those fans and hundreds of others who come to the neighborhood. the series will bring millions to local businesses. >> it's had a positive impact. anytime you can keep people using public transportation, walking, going by the businesses, i think it's great. >> reporter: yeah. as for getting inside of the park, we have been monitoring some of the ticket selling websites. seatgeek.com says the average price for games 1 and 2, $700, $300 to $400 for standing room only. right now we can see orange lights and decorations all over the city. a lot of the landmarks lit up, the fairmont hotel transformed

inside and out and city hall also awash in orange. back out here live now at at&t park, the infield again covered up. and i'm at a spot where you can come to see part of the world series game for free. we're going to see a lot of people lining up out here outside of the back side of the park. and you can stay for a couple of innings and get a pretty good view as you can here behind me. i'm live at at&t park. anne makovec. let's check in with cate caugiran live at city hall. cate. >> reporter: well, anne, we are here by the embarcadero ferry and as you said earlier, this game or the world series is going to bring millions to businesses and a lot of people here to san francisco. and right now, if you want to get around easily, you want to go with public transit. now, we know that the first pitch is 5:07 tonight. pre-game activities start at 1:30 this afternoon. and the city says they have everything in place to accommodate the thousands of fans that are coming into our

city. the vallejo baylink ferry will have a dedicated ferry for each game. each ferry holds 300 and no overflow. the san francisco municipal transportation agency, they are going to have eight additional shuttles going to and from the park. bart will also have additional trains and staff on hand to help people who aren't quite sure how to get around. so basically, mayor ed lee is reassuring san francisco, we're ready. we're having to go about our work in a very time constrained way to make sure that everybody who comes here whether it's through the airport or muni and public transportation all are taken care of. >> reporter: now, i just checked up on each and every one of those additional transportation services that will be offering more ways for people to get around. they say there are ways to pre- buy tickets and you want to plan ahead. you don't want to be caught in line. it will be a day of fun and festivities and the last thing

along 101. that's your "timesaver traffic." back to you guys. >> thank you. a fiery plane crash yesterday afternoon in east contra costa contra costa killed two people on board that plane. this is the crash scene. it went down in a farmer field near the byron airport. witnesses heard the plane sputter before it crashed. both the pilot and passenger were killed. their names haven't been released. off the coast of santa barbara county a fatal shark attack claimed the life of a 39- year-old surfer. francisco javier, jr., suffered a massive bite on his torso. a friend dragged him to shore but no one could save him of the authorities are examining his wounds and bite marks on the surfboard to determine what species the shark was that killed him. this is the 13th fatal shark attack in california waters since 1950. >> i think it's pretty well known locally like you said that there are sharks and we have had shark sightings up and

down the santa barbara coastline pretty frequently recently. >> shark attacks declined in the united states last year. there are only an average of 16 shark attacks a year nationwide and few are fatal. police in vallejo are offering a $10,000 reward for any information on the murders of a couple and their unborn twins. last month 31-year-old desean jones and 28-year-old ashley mills died after being shot several times. now their family members are making their first public comments. they say all they really want is for justice to be served. >> no parent, no mother, no father should ever have to experience what we're experiencing here today. so many lives were destroyed, you know, for what purpose? >> mills was six months pregnant with twins.

witnesses saw two men with hoodies running away of after shots were fires. a woman is dead after a fire in castro valley. 58-year-old barbara was found as they worked to put out the flames last year. investigators say she was attacked before that fire started. they believe the fire was set to cover up an attack on her and the robbery of her home. an arrest at a social services center in east oakland. a witness shot this video as a pregnant woman got into a verbal altercation with employees and was asked to leave. she refused and then her boyfriend stepped in. the witness says deputies hit him after they got him in handcuffs. >> he was handcuffed already on the floor and it was a lot of witnesses, he was handcuffed and they started kneeing him again and punching him on his head. >> you're only seeing a small snapshot of the whole thing. >> i saw what looked to be a punch from the deputy and that's certainly within policy. >> the alameda county sheriff's department says it will

investigate the incident only if someone files an official complaint. another u.s. senate candidate is stirring up controversy over a remark about rape. during a debate last night, indiana republican was talking about abortion which he feels should be allowed if it's to save the other life. >> even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that it is something that god intended to happen. >> his democratic opponent called more dock's remarks disrespectful to survivors of rape. the presidential race is taking on a new sense of urgency in its final two weeks. with both major candidates scrambling to gain votes in key swing states. president obama will travel 5300 miles for events in iowa, colorado, nevada, and southern california. governor romney is traveling to

are coming up. this is all sliding to the south throughout the morning hours. so yeah, it's going to be a wet start to the commute for some heading out early. we have some rain along the coast, showers elsewhere around the bay area. the temperatures running in the 40s and 50s. this afternoon, we'll see partly cloudy skies. there's still a slight chance of showers in the afternoon but really they will be widely scattered all around the bay area. so i think after this morning, we're looking good. around the state in the high country winter weather advisories at 4,000 feet nea lake tahoe. lots of snow in the high country, and adding on to the 2 to 3 feet they have seen this week. here morning rain a couple of leftover showers and then it will begin to move out. early on today the rain is moving out and then of course we have the world series later on today. it looks like it should be okay. just a few clouds moving on by. still a slight chance of a shower but nothing like the other night at the and of the

game. then we dry out toward the rest of the week. temperatures today cool about 64 degrees in san jose, 62 brisk into pacifica, east bay temperatures upper 60s into brentwood. about 64 degrees in vallejo. and 64 also in the napa valley and inside the bay keeping the temperatures mainly in the 60s, 50s at daly city. next couple of days warming up nicely into the weekend. couple of clouds, otherwise temperatures into the 70s. the next best chance of rain in the bay area probably late in the day next tuesday, gianna. >> all right. just got to get through today. hopefully things will wrap up sooner than expected. on the freeways, fairfield route stayed 12 near red top road a traffic alert for an accident where a big rig went down the embankment. at one point only the eastbound lanes were shut down but now both directions are shut down as they clear it. no estimated time as to when these lanes will reopen. they are saying in the meantime use alternates. the best bet to get around the mess american canyon or highway

coming january with as many as six more by to 2015. in a razor-thin vote the san jose city council decided to oppose measure d. that's the ballot measure that would increase the minimum hourly wage in the city to $10. yesterday's vote was 6-5. supporters say low wage workers need to earn more to afford living in an expensive city. opponents are concerned the measure would harm local businesses. in other bay area headlines, san francisco's law banning the widespread delivery of yellow pages is on the way to being repealed. that's because a similar law in seattle has been struck down by a federal appeals court. the san francisco law was to take effect next spring. and bart trains good news getting cleaner. the transit system has replaced more than 200 old cloth seat covers with vinyl upholstery. the new seats will be easier to clean, of course, and for the first time in 15 years, bart met cleanliness goals for train
